Challenge
Efficient energy management in residential and small office buildings is becoming increasingly complex: photovoltaic generation, battery storage, high consumption loads from heat pumps or electric vehicles, and variable weather and usage profiles all need to be managed simultaneously. Existing systems often operate in isolation, resulting in suboptimal use of self-generated energy and unnecessary grid dependency.
Our Approach
SWMS Consulting developed a cloud-native IoT platform that intelligently connects and orchestrates the various energy systems in a building. Using real-time data from sensors and smart devices, the system makes dynamic decisions to maximise self-consumption, minimise costs and reduce grid load.
What We Delivered
- IoT platform architecture for energy data acquisition and processing
- Integration of PV systems, battery storage, heat pumps and EV charging
- Real-time optimisation algorithms for energy flow management
- Cloud-native deployment on the NebulOuS platform
- Dashboard and monitoring for building operators
Result
The HeonICT system enables measurably higher self-consumption rates, reduced energy costs and a smaller carbon footprint – whilst remaining flexible and scalable for future requirements.
